Coldins explores the GCC region

Coldins is making significant strides in exploring opportunities within the Gulf region, particularly the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Recent visits and meetings have provided valuable insights into the region’s dynamic construction industry, building regulations, and opportunities for Coldins’ product integration.

In Dubai, Coldins’ delegation toured major construction sites, discovering ongoing large-scale development projects, such as new office spaces, apartments, and villas. A notable observation was the use of “sandwich block” insulation materials in these projects. According to experts with experience living in the Gulf region, it can take two to three days of running an air conditioner to return indoor temperatures to comfortable levels after being away on vacation.  This  opens the door for Coldins’ innovative insulation design solutions which allow building envelopes to release heat during the cooler nights.

The region’s massive electricity grid and the growing demand for indoor climatization in new real estate developments highlight the growing need for advanced insulation technologies.  By some experts’ estimates, currently between 60 to 70% of generated electric power is used for indoor climitization in Dubai.

Coldins’ discussions at the Dubai Central Laboratory (DCL) emphasized the regulatory landscape.  Coldins is working toward integrating its novel insulation methods into the market by meeting the stringent certification standards required for acceptance in the UAE’s competitive construction environment. This includes finalizing agreements with DCL for field experiments to validate Coldins’ insulation material solution.

During our visit to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, we witnessed that the market for building materials is booming, with ongoing projects including major developments in Roshn, Sedra and Al Forsan in Saudi Arabia. These large projects create an exciting opportunity for Coldins to introduce its insulation material solution, especially given that many local developers are seeking innovative ways to reduce energy consumption and improve building sustainability.

Coldins is positioning itself to make a strong impact in the Middle East. The company continues to engage with local GCC partners, paving the way for a successful field experiment first and market entry later.
